Blue Reef Aquarium Visit
I?m starting a sea life inspired project with my Year 9 class and what better way to begin a term than with a trip to collect first hand sources.
We went to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Portsmouth and as it?s out of season, we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.
The students spent all day in the calmest environment, filling their sketchbooks with drawings, taking photos (with their flashes off – I had super strict rules for the day as I?ve worked in aquariums so it?s a pet peeve of mine) and asking really thoughtful questions to both myself and the aquarists who worked there.
We were super excited to see a shark laying an egg and I really enjoyed getting to share my marine information with my students. They commented on how much they like that I?ve got other subject specific experiences that I can share with them. That made me smile.
