Christmas NOT Stressmas
It?s not long until Christmas and although that means nothing but joy for some people; to others it is a feeling of extreme anxiety and stress. It can fill you with dread if you have family issues. Not all families get along and there?s a real expectation to ?have to? get along at Christmas time.
🎄
Just because it?s Christmas does not mean your mental health has to suffer. You can continue to remove yourself from situations and people who are damaging to your wellbeing. You don?t have to buy presents – your family will understand money pressures if they truly care about you and will just appreciate having your company.
❄️
If you are feeling pressured to spend money you don?t have, take a moment to reevaluate and think about where and who you?d like to spend Christmas with. Are they people who are positive? Do they make you feel relaxed??
If you want to go away for Christmas, then do. If you want to stay at home in your PJ?s, do. If you want to have a big family lunch, do.? Do whatever is right for you.
🎄
Don?t feel you have to be in uncomfortable situations. That is NOT the meaning of Christmas. You deserve to have Christmas however you prefer to and people should not judge you for your choices. ❄️
The nice thing about reaching adulthood is that you are in charge of you and should be allowed to make all your own decisions (so don?t listen to anyone but your own heart). Do what is best for you and put your well-being first.
🎄
This can be the hardest thing to do at Christmas time because of social and familial pressures BUT you are important and you are allowed to be happy and have the Christmas that YOU want.
