Each house will be unique…
I am spending all of my ‘art time’ focusing purely on my solo show in the run up. It’s not until October but as always, I’ve aimed quite high and these dollhouses are full of tiny details. Each one of the 8 that will be on display and available to buy on the day (Friday 27th Oct 2017 at the ONCA gallery in Brighton) has a different theme and is completely handmade. Right down to the etched signatures…
So far I have two houses decorated and awaiting finishing touches. A tree stump themed home (more details to come soon as to how the themes link to emotions) and a sea themed home.
This weekend I’ve focused on completing the rock pool for the sea themed house. I’d love to know what you think. Three of the inhabitants can swim in the rock pool (there are three dips left to pop them in to) and the seaweeds and treasures are all collected from my childhood beach in Dorset.
Being near the sea is one of the quickest ways to ease my anxiety and low moods. The smells, the air, the colours. It’s just my happy place. I adore being in the forests, but I guess growing up by the sea means it will always hold a special place in my heart. I dreamed of being small enough to dip in to a rock pool and relax.
